Seeking Change: Parents

"Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage."

- Lao Tzu
In addition to psychotherapy and couples counseling, I provide parenting support sessions to parents in need.

If we did not get the parenting we needed as a child, the already difficult job of parenting can feel impossible. We may find ourselves struggling to relate with, understand, or communicate with our child.

We may find the new parenting roles in our life, such as nurturing or disciplining, to be uncomfortable and anxiety-provoking.

We may fear our past experiences with our own parents to be playing out in painful ways with our child.

Parenting support sessions can help when the demands of parenting begin to impact the parents' relationships and personal goals.  My work with parents is informed by infant observation, attachment theory, psychoanalytic and child developmental theory, as well as Bowenian family systems theory.

How To Start

Generally, people email me to set up an initial consultation session. The consultation session is a time for us to meet and discuss your situation, think together about what type of treatment would likely benefit you, and make a plan about scheduling.
